Brandinchi, the small Sardinian Tahiti

The enchanted jewel of San Teodoro Coast

There is a beach in Sardinia, by an enchanting beauty, which has been given a nickname that leaves little doubt about its beautiful aspect. In the coast of San Teodoro, in the locality of Capo Coda Cavallo, it is a small cove, Cala Brandinchi, dubbed the "Sardinian Tahiti".

French Polynesia in the south Pacific Ocean, of which Tahiti is the largest and most important island, is far from this corner of Sardinia, but something just refers to that paradise that here finds unbelievably its transposition.

It is not difficult to reach it. From Olbia, you have to take the SS 125 road, heading south, following the directions for Capo Coda Cavallo; route about one kilometer on of a dirt road, turn right and, after a little more of another kilometer the road leads straight to the beach.

To make Brandinchi a wonderful place is first and foremost the coast of thin, pale sand, covered by small dunes and the beautiful backdrop of the pinewood behind. All around, the touch of the Mediterranean scrub stands out everywhere, small junipers, rushes, thistles and asphodels.

Further back, instead, it affects the presence of a sumptuous green garden rich in vegetation.

If the beach, the bush and the forest affect by their acrid exotic flavor, the sea is no exception.

All different shades of turquoise sparkle in the sunlight. The water is clear and transparent. The shallow water emphasizes the colors. In the background overlooks the island of Tavolara, all around the lush vegetation reminds indeed the tropical islands, the water clarity and the unmistakable cobalt color predominates over all.

The small gulf forming Brandinchi cove, well sheltered from the winds, is also known from a historical point of view. From here, in fact, on October 17 1867, Giuseppe Garibaldi, having escaped from the island of Caprera, embarked to reach Piombino, heading to Rome.

The small "Sardinian Tahiti" is one of the many pearls that are found in the beautiful coast of San Teodoro.

The area of San Teodoro is an integral part of the Marine Park Tavolara - Punta Coda Cavallo, one of the major sites in the Mediterranean from a naturalistic point of view. The park, which stretches from Cape Caraso, situated south of Olbia, to Punta Isuledda, south of San Teodoro, offers a full choice for a holiday in total relax.

Each beach has its own charm, each gives its unspoiled beauty: sandy beaches and clear and transparent waters.

We have chosen Brandinchi because this bay has really something magical, something that in one way or another really leads to a Polynesian island perhaps with a few palm trees less, but really with a heavenly sea.
